Sharon Hughes - Maths and Statistics Tutor Hello my name is Sharon Hughes - I own and run Tutors On Location as well as Tutors4gcse. I teach Maths. I am a 48 year old mother of two.Sharon C Hughes, Tutors4gcse

I am a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Maths teacher. I led the Maths and Numeracy team at West Cheshire College and co-ordinated the Functional and Key Skills teams of maths, English and ICT at Macclesfield College.

After becoming frustrated with 'the system', I left full-time employment in order to set up Tutors4gcse. Beliefs that motivated me to leave the FE environment are the foundations I have built my business on.

I enjoy producing, both physical and interactive, resources which learners can work on in pairs or small groups to develop understanding. I have written a number of guides to help children and their parents with a number of educational worries.

I am an active member of 'Women in Business' networks in Cheshire and North Wales. I am an enthusiastic tweeter and answer maths queries for learners across the world.

Ian Holmes - Maths Tutor Hello my name is Ian Holmes. I am a qualified and experienced member of the maths delivery team at Tutors On Location and Tutors4gcse.

My background in telecommunications engineering, of which mathematics has always formed an essential part, has enabled me to look at the subject from a practical as well as a theoretical viewpoint.

Relating the principles of mathematics to examples in everyday life is, I believe, a powerful learning tool, and I use this as much as possible in my own delivery style. If we can introduce a little fun along the way - and who says maths shouldn't be fun! - the whole learning experience becomes more effective and enjoyable.

In my free time, I enjoy playing music, and I am a member of a three-piece country/folk band. I also enjoy getting involved in DIY projects (many of which, surprisingly, involve more maths than you might think!)

Louise Jones - English Tutor Hello, my name is Louise Jones. I'm a teacher of English and a Special Educational Needs Coordinator. Although I teach across the ability ranges, I do have a particular interest in supporting and developing confidence in those students who find learning a challenge.

I operate on the principle that in order to make progress, all students need to know where they, and what they need to do in order to improve. Teaching a student to become independent, and to learn how to self assess their own work, is crucial to their success.

In my free time, I enjoy entertaining my own children with visits to museums or walks in the park. I also volunteer on the committee of Flint swimming club, read as much as possible, and I'm a camping enthusiast!

Alannah Roberts - Primary Tutor Hello, my name is Alannah Roberts. I'm a specialist Primary teacher and deliver small group numeracy and literacy sessions for children from school years 2, 3 and 4 at the Broughton Park venue. I also deliver the "Step up to ... Secondary" sessions and other workshops for schools.

Delyth Williams - English Tutor Hello, my name is Delyth Williams. I'm a qualified teacher with an English specialism and a love of all things Literacy! I graduated from Hull University in 2004 with an honours degree and after a career in finance decided to follow my passion for teaching. I have experience of teaching from year 1 right through to adults and I am an experienced English as a Foreign Language teacher.

My approach to teaching is centred around fun and active learning and I believe that engaging learners is the key to success. As a result of this you will often find learners in my classroom on their feet or in some cases out of the classroom completely! I am creative by nature and apply this to all of my teaching.

Linda Morris - Maths and Science Tutor Hello, my name is Linda Morris. I'm a specialist Maths and Science teacher and deliver small group maths and Science sessions for children from school years 7 up to GCSE level at the Hawarden venue and 1-2-1 sessions at Broughton Shopping Park. I am an enthusiastic, fully qualified maths and science teacher with over 35 years of experience teaching in local secondary schools. I am also a qualified teacher of the deaf and have extensive experience of special needs teaching, in particular autism and dyslexia. I am a registered language modifier appointed by BATOD for the AQA examinations board, have written many maths, science and ICT study units for AQA and have worked as an examiner for the Cambridge Maths Project.

I am passionate about my teaching and sometimes my approach is not orthodox but I tailor my teaching to the needs of the student. I am an advocate of making my subjects accessible to all. I believe children learn better and more easily when they are enjoying themselves and they can relate their work to everyday situations.

I particularly enjoy 1 to 1 tuition where I can concentrate on developing the students' skills and preparing them for the next step in their education.

Jen March - Maths Tutor Hello, my name is Jen March. I am a Maths tutor.

I studied Mathematics at the University of Dundee and graduated with a 2.1 honours degree. I began to work at West Cheshire College where I taught Maths for couple of years. Then I moved to work for a Training Provider to teach adults in the workplace. I provided both one-to-one and group tuition for students of any age: from 5 year olds up to adults studying for their own Teacher Training entry exams.

I strongly believe in steady progress. I have a patient approach with my students. They feel fully supported throughout sessions which boosts their confidence so they can become independent learners. I use many methods of teaching, including group activities and puzzles. I do my best to make my sessions fun: Learning should be engaging.

Personally, I enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors on walks with my husband and my dog, Bud. I also play netball in 2 ladies leagues which keeps me fit and is lots of fun!

Karen Campbell - Science Tutor Hello, my name is Karen Campbell. I am an experienced and enthusiastic Science teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience in schools around Chester. I teach Science at KS3 & KS4 and specialise in Chemistry.
When it comes to the sciences there is often so much to take on board, facts and figures from Chemistry, Biology and Physics, that learning it all can sometimes feel an impossible task. I am creative in my approach to teaching and learning, making pupils feel comfortable and confident enough to believe in their abilities, helping them really understand the curriculum and how it all fits together.

I use a variety of resources and activities and always try to link the scientific concepts to my students’ everyday experiences in the world around them.
